'Giant Duck' In Sidney


Remember the orange duck toy that used to be friends bathe children? Now, tourists can see these cute toys in the shape of a giant swimming in Sydney Harbour, Australia. This is one of the attractions of Sydney Festival 2013.


Sydney Harbour will be a 'bathtub' giant place swim Rubber Duck, duck toy giant 15-meter. It is the work of Dutch artist named Florentijn Hofman in order to enliven the Sydney Festival 2013.



This giant duck toy arrived in Sydney Harbour on Saturday. Until Thursday (3/1) yesterday, the Rubber Duck looks fun swim workout on the edge of Sydney Harbour ahead of the inauguration. Production Manager Sydney Festival 2013, Mick Jessop, have seen the construction of a giant duck toy is 9 months. Rubber Duck is made of PVC material, is designed in New Zealand by specialist companies stadium roof construction and the ship.



"About 15 meters high, 15 meters wide and 18 meters long. Took 3 people to sew for 3 weeks, with a total seam about 6 km. Rubber Duck pumped in 25-30 minutes using 4 blower," Jessop said as quoted by News Australia, Thursday (01/03/2013).



Rubber Duck, which reached a total weight of 500 kg, will be pulled by boats towards the middle of Sydney Harbour. The tourists will not notice it from a distance, but eventually, Rubber Duck will sit in a buffer weighing 10 tons which covered the surface of the water. This is to prevent the ducks in the wind.



Besides drawn by ships, Rubber Duck entry into Sydney Harbour will also require the opening of Pyrmont Bridge. Nearest monorail service will also be suspended.



"This will make the Port of Sydney like a giant bathtub," said Jessop.
